My XR1000 has a severe leaning problem as well. I checked under the frame and couldn't find any cracks or bends, but it eventually leaned over so far that I couldn't park it next to another machine. I attempted to bend the bracket back up, which bent back down as soon as I set it back on the stand, and after a couple of repeated attempts heard metal cracking, so until I can remove the motor and get it welded properly I have a piece of wood slat jammed in between the kickstand swivel and crankcase, and carry a 2x4" wood block to place under the stand when parked..

Just like the old days..

Does any one know of a good universal kick stand?
My new frame doesn't have anything yet.

Has anyone ever figured out how to weld up, refit or fit an alternative sidestand to the XR1000 that doesn't have it leaning over so far you can't park it near other bikes? I'm a little tired of having to pack along a 4" thick piece of wood everywhere I go just to partially correct this design flaw.I mean, we all know there's no bent bracket problem here - the jiffy bracket on the frame is incorrectly designed.

Any suggestions short of rewelding the jiffy stand mount, which I don't want to do? Or is the real answer an NOS centerstand?

Your question lead's me to ask if you have stock length shock's on your bike? Any pronounced leaning I have seen is on bike's with over stock length shock's. I do not carry a block, but do use one in the Garage. I have not been bothered by it personally. I had a Ducati that stood up so straight that when it was bumped by a dog, it fell over. Beside's, this way it keep's the pesky EVO rider's from parking too close. LOL XRNUT
