STOCK XL tappet blocks can be modified to work,one of the local shops here in town rebuilt a 95 hp XR1000 a few years ago. If I remember right there are some angles machined in the lifter bosses. BREWSKI

The XR-750 tappet assembly is 18508-72RC; the tappet guide is 18607-72RC.

Part no. 18508-72RC has not the same face but nearly the same spec´s as the original XR-1000 part.
I compared both and found out that the XR-1000 tappets with rollers are 0.02" longer. Outer diameter is the same.
So if you shorten the push-rods or use adjustable push rods it will work.

The XR-1000 tappet blocks are the same as iron head 57-85.

Hello all-
Per my parts catalog the tappet guide (tappet block) is PN 18607-74RA and the tappet assy is PN 18642-83. This has been mentioned in previous posts that are now 10 years old or so. My harley dealer does not know where to get these or who makes equivalent replacements. Any Ideas for 2010?

I googled for "Harley 18642-83" and found the following supplier:

According to the side-search they have both parts in stock.

Google found even more hits, but I didn't investigate any further...

I have used this website before, but they did not actually stock the parts. I see the site shows the parts with pricing, but I will call to make sure they have them.

I had other website hits for these part numbers but all were dead ends.

If I have to, I just might reverse engineer these and make them myself.
