Phil Darcy ( http://www.darcyracing.com/ ) may be your man for head porting.
Below you can see the message he wrote to me in the year 2002.

QUOTE:

Hi Tom,

I can and would like to work with you.The problem with xr1000 heads is what you already know. You have two different ported heads (in Branches defense I know that HD paid a very small amount of money to get xr750 and xr1000 heads ported in fact for that amount he did a super job)anyway they need detail and matching. It would be hard to guess price without seeing. Most would depend on your budget because I could weld them completely up and start over so I think some where in between is where we will be.

My manifolds are oval and wouldn't work with out welding up.I like dual plugs they always help a xr750 so I fell I would do that for sure

Price providing seats are ok porting and flow testing would cost 1500.00-2000.00 US ( this would be a tapered port starting at the manifold entrance and with produce a wide power band exhast rework also ) depending on how they are now and building new manifolds. How ever the amount of work is completely up to you as I would be happy to do what I can in your racing teams budget Let me know because I can improve what you have at what ever amount you deside to have done.

Phil Darcy/DRS

PS:
New kit heads, complety done w/manifolds would be about $ 3850.00 with Ti. valves. I some times have new sets in stock.

Patrick racing and Axtell are other well known names for porting XR750 heads.
We couldn't afford any of those famous tuners and went to a local tuner who did the job for 1/10 of the costs stated above. Of course it would be interesting to switch to Branch, Darcy, Patrick or Axtell ported heads one day and check the difference, but those heads are hard to find standalone.
