I am the new owner of a 1984 XR-1000 and need some technical info relating to cams.
First off, i'm looking for a set of decent cams and am considering hunting down a set of Sifton 214R, which I believe is indicated for the XR-1000 and similar to the 214 ironhead grind. I have also considered the Andrews #2 and the Red Shift 520, but i'm not really
fond of Andrews and Zipper's wants to know the exact configuration of my motor and the performance that I expect, but i'm not ready to make this decision as yet. Right now I just want a set of temporary performance cams to replace the stock "Q" cams with..
Also, though i've been reading the previous messages and comments, i'm unsure of what the spec maximum cam lift and clearance is on factory stock valve and springs for coilbind, or inotherwords which of the abovementioned cam grinds can be considered as "drop-in".
Any suggestions or leads will be appreciated.
