I am the new owner of a 1984 XR-1000..
I replaced the over-restrictive stock left side exhaust system with the similar 4 inch
megaphone SuperTrapps with heat shields, but I am getting tired of the hot leg and not being able to carry a passenger..
SuperTrapp used to make "Super Tips" which mounted to a modified stock exhaust system, and the "2-into-one" right side exhaust with one muffler, but I don't know whether either one is currently available..
Mac Products makes an XR-1000 2-2 Black Ceramac right side two into one setup, but it appears to be a 1-3/4" straight pipe with internal baffles, which would for a surety cause excessive backpressure..
I'm hot for a set of SuperTrapp 2-into-one pipes, and saw that someone here who posted as "anonymous" thought that he had a set laying around. If he has 'em, i'm interested in 'em..
Otherwise, i'm open to suggestion regarding any available exhaust systems..
