I collected all specifications about the HD stock, HD high performance and some recommended aftermarket cams. In order to compare the timings I put all data into a table at
http://www.xr1000.de/cams.html
Concerning the lift I was told that the stock valves will contact at 0.57" (570XR and that the 615XL (0.558"

has been build into stock heads without problem. The claimed 0.56" lift of the "bolt in" Andrew cams was told to be only 0.52". My personal conclusion is, that a modified 570XR cam with a maximum lift of 0.558" might be a good choice for a closed circuit race cam.
Any practical experience or theoretical opinion on that subject are greatly welcome.
