XR1000 Online Community

I have an 83 XR which has been off the road for over ten years. The Dellorto carbs were nothing but trouble so I bought a set of 38mm Mikunis from Sudco, who promised they would fit, they don't. The rear carb won't clear the oil tank. I called Branch and was told that the only way to mount the Mikunis is to use their after-market manifolds which are no longer in production. I located a set of manifolds for $350!! (the carbs cost $350) What are my options? Is there any way to mount the carbs without resorting to the gold plated manifolds?
