I'm trying to replace the fork stem on an '84 XR-1000.
Everything is free, and ready to go, except the tubes appear to be frozen in the upper bracket.
I don't particularly want to disassemble the shocks to get the fork stem off/on.
I have tried everything I can think of short of a fire wrench.
Am I not holding my mouth just right, or what?
The pinch bolts on the stem are out, and the tubes are free at that point.
There are no visible signs of corrosion, not even a hint, but the tubes aren't going anywhere.
Do I have to sing and dance?
Please help if there's anything I'm missing.
Note: The caps are off of the tubes also.
Thanks in advance!
